Jenny Nagle BA, Dip Teaching, ATCL – Speech & Drama

My publishing career began with Hodder & Stoughton’s educational division in NZ, before moving to trade publishing, sales and marketing across the Tasman, as Marketing Director.  Over the last 30 years I worked at Thomas Nelson, HodderHeadline, School Supplies, BestStart Educare, and APN (Kid’s Club). I founded an independent distributor Addenda (sold 2004) and created The Bookie for specialist institutional supply.

Addenda won The Best of the Bestsellers Award, from Booksellers NZ, two years running. While in Australia I served 4 years on the Australian Publishers’ Association Trade Book Marketing Committee and NSW Children’s Book Council, including the inaugural CBC national conference committee, and later managed the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize Final Programme in NZ.  In June 2017, I became CEO of The New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ) and a member of the Storylines Management Committee.

My passion for children’s and young adult writing and education has pervaded all and I am committed to the success of OneTree House.

Jenny served as a member of the Storylines Management Committee and is a member of SLANZA.

Christine Dale Dip Bus

With more than 25 years in the Publishing Industry and 10 years as a manuscript assessor I am committed to New Zealand's wealth of literary and artistic talent. I want to see our people on the world stage.

ā€‹

My first illustration commission was in the late 1980s and I'm delighted to see it has been reissued recently in a special edition, The Big Block of Chocolate, written by Janet Slater. This was followed by my own picture book, The Ivy.

ā€‹

During my time at Scholastic NZ Ltd the publishing list grew from 5 to 50 titles a year and I am proud to say that over 30 of those titles went on to win awards for writing, illustrating, first works and, most importantly, children's choice awards. By the time I left, I was the Publishing Manager and Scholastic NZ Ltd had become the leading publisher of children's books in New Zealand.

I served as the Chair of the Storylines Management Committee for 3 years and am currently a member of both the NZSA and the Manuscript Assessors Association.

OneTree House are members of SQWIBI and the Publishers Association of NZ.

Dame Whina Cooper said it best: Take care of our children. Take care of what they hear, take care of what they see, take care of what they feel. For how the children grow, so will be the shape of Aotearoa.
