Masterton children's book delivers message - A Masterton-based artist and writer is hopeful his new illustrated children's book will encourage some important con-versations about "taking care of our most precious things".
Ian Chapman is the creative mastermind behind Left To Nowhere, a dark fantasy tale inspired by environmental degradation, fixation with technological progress, and the "complacency that breeds contempt" when it comes to things we value.
Chapman's book, published by OneTree-House in Auckland, centred around a humanoid race of creatures who live in a world where multi-coloured balloons "grow in the air like weeds".
The creatures grow obsessed with creating "bigger and better balloon-popping machines" - until they notice all the balloons have been destroyed, and they miss the beautiful surroundings they assumed would always be there.
