Protest! Shaping Aotearoa by Mandy Hager launched last week. Mandy was introduced (remotely!) by MP Chlöe Swarbrick and the book was launched by Nicky Hager.

Our thanks to Colin McDiarmid for the photos and to Vic Books for hosting us!

Protest! Shaping Aotearoa is a look at protest in New Zealand: what was it about, who did it and were they successful? Starting with Hone Heke and encompassing Parehaka to the land march, votes for women and the nuclear test ban. Culminating in the climate change marches.

“An accessible and brilliantly told account of the history of protest in Aotearoa, and the ways in which it has come to shape us. From early examples to the modern day, Hager unwinds the tales of political, economic, and environmental resistance in our DNA.” - MP Chlöe Swarbrick
