About the Author:
Liz van der Laarse (1952–2025) was a New Zealand writer of fiction for pre- and early-teen readers. She taught in Far North schools for more than 27 years, working across primary, intermediate, and secondary levels.
Her first novel, Trouble Patch (Reed), was published in 2000, followed by Not Even (Reed) in 2002. Not Even was selected for the Storylines Notable Book List in 2003 in the Junior Fiction category, and Cuz was included in the 2019 list.
In addition to her fiction, Liz wrote articles for Wilderness magazine and for local newspapers.
